Iowa Code § 724.15 — a permit or a background check to acquire a pistol or revolver from a dealer

To acquire a pistol or revolver from a federally licensed dealer, an unlicensed person needs a valid permit to acquire, a valid permit to carry, or a satisfactory national instant background check.

  • No one barred by the felony section, by federal law or by a court order may acquire one.
  • No one intoxicated as the OWI section defines it may acquire one.
