Iowa Code § 711.2 — first degree, with serious injury or a dangerous weapon, is a class B felony

Robbery is assaulting, threatening or frightening someone with serious injury, or threatening an immediate forcible felony, to commit a theft or escape from one, whether or not anything was actually stolen.

  • Robbery while purposely inflicting or trying to inflict serious injury, or while armed with a dangerous weapon, is first degree, a class B felony.
  • Any other robbery is second degree, a class C felony.
