When the Landlord Can Come In

Iowa Code § 562A.19 — at least 24 hours' notice and reasonable times, except in an emergency

  • A tenant may not unreasonably withhold consent for the landlord to inspect, make repairs, supply services, or show the unit.
  • Except in an emergency or where impracticable, the landlord gives at least 24 hours' notice and enters only at reasonable times.
  • The landlord may enter without consent in an emergency.
  • The landlord may not abuse the right of access or use it to harass the tenant.

During a tenant's absence of more than 14 days, the landlord may enter at times reasonably necessary.
