K.S.A. 60-1401 — the district court changes a name at the petitioner's cost, without affecting any legal right
The district court may change the name of any person in Kansas, at the cost of the person asking, without affecting any legal right.
Who handles this in Kansas: legal aid programs, lawyer referral and the state offices, listed in the Kansas directory.
The person asking pays the cost of the proceeding, and the new name leaves every legal right the person held untouched.
