Driving on an Ignition Interlock
K.S.A. 8-1015 — a $100 application to drive on an interlock during the suspension, and a year more for breaking its terms
A person whose license was suspended over a test refusal, a test failure or an alcohol related conviction may apply to drive during the suspension only a vehicle with an ignition interlock device. The application fee is $100.

- The division approves it unless the privileges are restricted, suspended or revoked for some other reason.
- Once the device is installed, the person carries the order imposing the restriction whenever driving.
- A conviction for breaking the restriction adds another year of suspension.
After a first test failure suspension is served, the privileges are restricted to an interlock vehicle for 180 days.
