A Protective Order for Dating Violence or Stalking
KRS 456.030 — an interpersonal protective order for dating violence, stalking or sexual assault
Someone who is not family or a household member can still get an order. A victim of dating violence and abuse, of stalking, or of sexual assault may petition for an interpersonal protective order, and an adult may petition on behalf of a minor victim.
- The petition may be filed in the county where the victim lives or the county the victim fled to.
- It is verified and states the names and addresses of both people and the facts behind it.
- The forms come from the circuit clerk, and every petition requested, completed and signed must be accepted and filed.
Each county has a protocol approved by the Supreme Court for access to these orders at any hour.
