Calling for Help from Home
KRS 383.302 — no lease clause can penalize a tenant for calling police or emergency help
A lease or rental agreement may not let the landlord end the agreement, or penalize the tenant, for the tenant's requests for help from peace officers or for other emergency help. Such a clause is unenforceable.
A landlord who enforces a clause known to be prohibited owes actual damages, attorney's fees and costs, and punitive damages of not more than two months' rent. The section covers leases made or renewed on or after June 29, 2017.
