Where the Tenant Law Applies
KRS 383.500 — the landlord tenant act applies where a city or county has adopted it whole
The General Assembly lets cities, counties and urban county governments enact the Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, KRS 383.505 to 383.705. A local government that adopts it adopts it in its entirety and without amendment, and may enact no other ordinance on the same subjects.
Where it is not in effect. Where the act is not in effect, a landlord may end a tenancy at will or by sufferance by giving one month's written notice requiring the tenant to leave. Many of the rental pages in this guide rest on the act, and each one says so.
