Marrying Under Eighteen
KRS 402.020 — a marriage with a person under eighteen is prohibited and void, except as KRS 402.210 allows
- A marriage is prohibited and void with a person under eighteen at the time of marriage, except as KRS 402.210 provides.
- It is also void with a person a court has adjudged mentally disabled, where either spouse has a living spouse not divorced, or where it was not solemnized before an authorized person or society.
The age rule does not reach a lawful Kentucky marriage entered before July 14, 2018, or a lawful marriage made in another state or country before the couple lived in Kentucky.
