Disturbing the Peace
La. R.S. 14:103 — a fight, offensive words, or appearing drunk in a way that would foreseeably alarm the public
Disturbing the peace is doing any of these in a manner that would foreseeably disturb or alarm the public:
- Engaging in a fistic encounter.
- Addressing offensive, derisive or annoying words to someone lawfully in a street or public place, or making noise to deride, offend or annoy him.
- Appearing in an intoxicated condition.
- Holding an unlawful assembly, or interrupting a lawful one.
- Disrupting a funeral or burial within 300 feet, from 120 minutes before to 120 minutes after.
It carries a fine of not more than $100, up to 90 days, or both. Disrupting a funeral or obstructing a funeral route carries up to $500, 6 months, or both, and so does interrupting a worship service.
