Intimate Images
La. R.S. 14:283.2 — sharing a private intimate image without consent, up to $10,000 or 2 years
Nonconsensual disclosure of a private image is intentionally sharing an identifiable image of someone whose intimate parts are exposed, or who is engaged in sexual conduct, when all of these are true:
- The image was obtained through unauthorized access, or in circumstances where a reasonable person would understand it was to remain private.
- The person sharing it knew or should have known the person shown did not consent.
- The person sharing it knew or should have known it could harass or cause emotional distress.
It carries a fine of not more than $10,000, up to 2 years with or without hard labor, or both. It does not cover sharing with police to report a crime, or an image of someone who exposed themselves in a public setting.
