Notice to End a Tenancy
La. C.C. art. 2728 — 10 calendar days before the end of the month for a month to month lease, in writing
A lease with a fixed term ends when the term expires, without any notice. A lease with an indeterminate term, such as month to month, ends only when one side gives the other notice.

- Notice to end a lease of a home is given in writing.
- A notice ends the lease at the end of the period it names, or if it names none, at the end of the first period for which it was timely.
- A tenant who hands back possession at the time notice was due has given notice by doing so.
