Identification to Vote
La. R.S. 18:562 — a driver's license or other picture ID, or a signed affidavit without one
A voter gives a name and address to a commissioner and shows one of these:
- A Louisiana driver's license or special identification card.
- Another generally recognized picture identification card with the voter's name and signature.
- A United States military identification card with the voter's name and picture.
No ID is not the end. A voter without one of those signs an affidavit, supplied by the secretary of state, before the commissioners, giving date of birth and mother's maiden name. A voter who cannot complete it because of a disability may have help.
A qualified voter left off the precinct register may, once the registrar confirms the registration, sign a correction affidavit and vote.
