When the Building Is Sold

La. C.C. art. 2711 — a sale of the rental does not end the lease

The lease goes with the building. The transfer of the leased thing by the lessor does not terminate the lease. The tenant has an action against the old lessor for any loss caused by the transfer.

The seller passes the security deposit to the buyer, who is then responsible for returning it when the lease ends.
