WHAT EACH CHARGE CARRIES

53 charges people actually meet, each with the section it comes from, what it requires the state to show, and the most it can carry. Maine's criminal code sorts crimes into Class A through Class E, and the class sets the longest term and fine unless a statute sets another. Below the classes, a civil violation and a traffic infraction are not crimes and carry fines.
