Assault
Crim. Law § 3-202 and § 3-203 — second degree up to 10 years, first degree up to 25
Second degree: a misdemeanor up to 10 years. Any assault is assault in the second degree in Maryland, a misdemeanor carrying up to 10 years, a $2,500 fine, or both.
Intentionally causing physical injury to someone the person knows or has reason to know is a law enforcement officer, a parole or probation agent, or a firefighter, emergency medical technician or other first responder on duty is the felony of second degree assault, up to 10 years, a $5,000 fine, or both.
First degree: a felony up to 25 years. Intentionally causing or attempting serious physical injury, assault with a firearm, and assault by intentionally strangling another are assault in the first degree, a felony carrying up to 25 years.
