Grandparents And Visitation
Fam. Law § 9-102 — a petition to an equity court, decided on the child's best interests
In Maryland, an equity court may consider a grandparent's petition for reasonable visitation of a grandchild, and may grant visitation rights to the grandparent if it finds visitation to be in the best interests of the child.
The section is short, and how courts weigh a parent's objection under it is case law, which is not reproduced here. Whether a petition can succeed is a question for the court and for a licensed Maryland attorney.
