Under 21 And Driving

Transp. § 16-113 — no alcohol in the blood at all until 21, and a midnight curfew until 18

No alcohol in the blood. Whatever the driving record, the Motor Vehicle Administration puts an alcohol restriction on every Maryland licensee under the age of 21: no driving or attempting to drive with alcohol in the blood. The license shows the restriction, and it expires when the licensee turns 21.

Email

A licensee under 21 convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol, impaired by alcohol, or impaired by drugs may be required to use an ignition interlock for up to 3 years to keep the license.

5 a.m. to midnight under 18. A provisional license issued to someone under 18 allows driving unsupervised only between 5 a.m. and 12 midnight, with exceptions the section lists. The hour restriction ends on the holder's 18th birthday.
