Tanning Under Eighteen
G.L. c. 111, § 211 — no tanning bed before 18, with or without a parent
No person under 18 years of age shall use a tanning device. The section has no exception for a parent's permission.
Who handles this in Massachusetts: legal aid programs and lawyer referral, listed in the Massachusetts directory.
Tattooing and body piercing are regulated by local boards of health rather than one statewide age rule in this chapter, and are not covered here. Questions about a particular salon go to the local board of health.
