Minimum Wage

Minn. Stat. 177.24 — adjusted each January 1 for inflation, by no more than five percent

Adjusted every January 1. Each year, by August 31, the commissioner measures inflation, and the minimum wage rises by that percentage or five percent, whichever is less, rounded to the nearest cent, taking effect the next January 1. It is never reduced.

Tips are the employee's. An employer may not credit gratuities toward the minimum wage. A gratuity received by an employee is the employee's sole property, and an employer may not require it to be shared with the employer or other employees.

During the first 90 consecutive days of employment, an employer may pay an employee under the age of 20 years a lower rate the section sets, but may not displace another employee to do so.
