The Light That Is Changing

Minn. Stat. 169.06 — the yellow warns that a red will follow when traffic must not enter, and turns on red after stopping

The yellow is a warning. Traffic facing a steady circular yellow or yellow arrow is warned that the related green or flashing yellow movement is ending, or that a red will be exhibited immediately after, when traffic must not enter the intersection, except for movement allowed by a green arrow shown at the same time.

Red, then a turn. Traffic facing a circular red alone stops at a clearly marked stop line or, if none, before the near crosswalk, or before the intersection, and remains standing until green. A driver stopped there intending to turn right may do so, and a driver on a one way street meeting a one way street moving left may turn left into it, unless an official sign prohibits the movement, yielding to pedestrians and other traffic.
