Mo. Rev. Stat. § 429.080 — six months to file the lien, and six more to sue

The notice to owner. An original contractor gives the person it contracts with, before receiving any payment, a written notice that the contractor's failure to pay those supplying material or services can result in a mechanic's lien on the property, and that the owner may ask the contractor for lien waivers.
