False Reports
Mo. Rev. Stat. § 575.080 — a class B misdemeanor, with a defense for taking it back in time
- Gives false information to anyone to implicate another person in an offense.
- Makes a false report to a law enforcement officer that an offense has happened or is about to.
- Makes a false report of a fire or other emergency to police, fire or an emergency organization.
Someone who knowingly does any of those commits the class B misdemeanor of making a false report in Missouri. It is a defense that the person retracted it before anyone took substantial action relying on it.
