Mo. Rev. Stat. § 452.335 — only when the spouse lacks enough property and cannot support themselves

A Missouri court may order maintenance to either spouse only if it finds the spouse seeking it lacks enough property, including marital property awarded, to meet reasonable needs, and cannot support themselves through appropriate employment or has custody of a child whose circumstances make staying home appropriate.

The amount and length are what the court finds just, weighing among other things each side's resources, the time needed for education or training, earning capacity, the standard of living during the marriage, the length of the marriage, age and health, and conduct during the marriage.

The order has to say whether it can be modified. A modifiable order can be changed on a substantial and continuing change of circumstances.
