One month, in writing. Either a Missouri landlord or tenant may end a month to month tenancy by written notice stating it ends on a rent paying date at least one month after the notice is received. A rental of a house, apartment or other building in a city, town or village that is not in a signed writing is a tenancy from month to month, which either side may end with one month's written notice.

A limit of two persons per bedroom is presumed reasonable, and does not count a child born to the tenants during the lease. Someone who owns a mobile home and rents the lot under it gets at least sixty days from the next rent due date.
