School Attendance
Neb. Rev. Stat. § 79-201 — every child from six to eighteen, unless withdrawn at sixteen with an exit interview
A child is of mandatory attendance age who will reach six years of age before January 1 of the school year and has not reached eighteen years of age.
Each day school is in session. The person in charge of the child enrolls the child in a public, private, parochial or exempt school and causes regular attendance, except when excused or when illness or severe weather makes it impossible.
A violation is a Class III misdemeanor.
A parent of a child at least sixteen but less than eighteen may withdraw the child before graduation after an exit interview and a signed withdrawal form.
A child who has graduated is outside the requirement. A particular situation is a question for a licensed Nebraska attorney.
