Who Has To Report It
NRS 432B.220 — a mandatory reporter reports abuse or neglect within 24 hours
Within 24 hours. A person the section lists who, in their professional or occupational capacity, knows or has reasonable cause to believe a child has been abused or neglected reports it to a child welfare agency or to law enforcement as soon as reasonably practicable, and not later than 24 hours after.
Where the abuse involves someone at a child care facility, the report goes to law enforcement. Where it involves a child welfare agency or a law enforcement agency itself, the report goes to a different agency, which also investigates.
The listed reporters include licensed providers of health care and others in professions the section names. Anyone else may also make a report.
