Carrying

A permit authorizes carrying a handgun in a holster concealed on the person throughout the state, except in the places the law prohibits. It does not authorize carrying openly, though a brief, incidental exposure while holstering or from shifting clothing is treated as de minimis. One permit covers all the holder's handguns.

An application goes first to the chief police officer of the town where the applicant lives, with a $200 fee, and is endorsed by four reputable people not related to the applicant who have known them for at least three years. A complete application not approved or denied within 90 days is deemed approved, unless extended up to 30 days more for good cause.

A permit expires two years from issuance and may be renewed every two years on the same conditions.
