N.J.S.A. 39:3-76.2f — the driver, every front seat passenger, and rear seat adults too
In New Jersey, the driver and every front seat passenger wear a properly adjusted and fastened seat belt, as do passengers from eight to under 18 and rear seat passengers 18 years of age or older. The driver is responsible for securing passengers at least eight but under 18. Vans, pickup trucks and utility vehicles count as passenger automobiles.
A $20.00 fine, and no points. A violation is fined $20.00, with no motor vehicle or insurance eligibility points and no insurance surcharge.
