N.D.C.C. § 39-29-09 — a registered off-highway vehicle may use gravel roads and some paved roads

  • A registered off-highway vehicle may run on gravel, dirt or loose surface roads, and on paved highways posted at fifty-five miles per hour or less.
  • A licensed driver over sixteen may run a registered class III vehicle on paved highways posted at sixty-five or less.
  • A vehicle that cannot reach thirty miles per hour stays off paved highways, and none may use a controlled-access highway outside an emergency.

Someone under sixteen without a license or permit may ride only on a parent's or guardian's land or in an organized event, unless at least twelve and holding the state safety course certificate.
