N.D.C.C. § 14-02.5-02 — no refusing to rent over race, sex, disability, age, family status, marital status or public assistance
No one may refuse to rent or sell a dwelling after a bona fide offer, or set different terms or services, because of race, color, religion, sex, disability, age, familial status, national origin, or status with respect to marriage or public assistance.
- A tenant in a state housing program may not be denied or evicted for being a victim of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault or stalking.
- The chapter does not bar refusing someone convicted of manufacturing or distributing a controlled substance.
- It does not bar refusing to rent to two unrelated, unmarried people of opposite gender.
An aggrieved person may sue in district court within two years after the practice, not counting time an administrative hearing on the same complaint is pending.
