Refused Service

N.D.C.C. § 14-02.4-14 — a business open to the public may not refuse or treat someone unequally for a protected trait

A public accommodation may not deny access to its services or facilities, or treat a person unequally in price or terms, because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or marital or public assistance status.

  • An architectural or communication barrier must be removed when that is readily achievable, or the service offered another way.
  • A complaint goes to the human rights division, or a suit to district court, within one hundred eighty days of the act.
