Reporting Child Abuse
N.D.C.C. § 50-25.1-03 — teachers, health workers, clergy and others must report, and anyone may
Health and mental health professionals, teachers, school counselors, child care workers, foster parents, police, social workers, clergy and others who suspect abuse or neglect through their work must report it to the department. Clergy need not report what was learned as a spiritual adviser. Anyone else with reasonable cause may report.
- A required reporter who willfully fails to report commits a class B misdemeanor.
- A willful false report is a class B misdemeanor, or class A if made to law enforcement, and brings civil liability.
