75 Pa.C.S. 3744 — stop, give your information, help, and call the police
In Pennsylvania, a driver in an accident that injures or kills anyone stops immediately at or as close as possible to the scene and stays until the duty to give information and render aid is met. Leaving is a misdemeanor of the first degree, a felony of the third degree with a minimum of 90 days and a $1,000 fine if the victim suffers serious bodily injury, and a felony of the second degree with a minimum of three years and a $2,500 fine if the victim dies.
- The driver gives name, address and the vehicle's registration number, and on request shows a driver's license and insurance information, to anyone injured and to the other driver or whoever attends damaged property, and to any officer at the scene or investigating.
- The driver renders reasonable assistance to anyone injured, including arranging to take them for treatment where it is apparent it is needed or they ask.
- If no one is able to receive the information and no officer is there, the driver reports the accident to the police.

The police are notified immediately of an injury, or a car that must be towed. A driver in an accident involving injury or death, or damage leaving a vehicle unable to be driven normally so that it must be towed, gives notice immediately, by the quickest means, to the nearest police department. The officer who investigates gives each driver a signed statement that the accident was reported.
