Bad Checks

R.I. Gen. Laws § 19-9-24 — a check up to $1,500 written knowing the money is not there, up to $500 or a year

Writing or delivering a check of not more than $1,500 with intent to defraud, knowing there are not enough funds or credit to pay it in full, is punished by a fine of not more than $500 or imprisonment not exceeding one year, or both.
