Paid Sick and Safe Leave

R.I. Gen. Laws § 28-57-5 — an hour for every thirty-five worked, up to forty hours a year, at an employer of eighteen or more

Employees of an employer with eighteen or more employees in Rhode Island earn at least one hour of paid sick and safe leave for every thirty-five hours worked, up to forty hours a year.

Email
  • The employee's own illness, injury, diagnosis, treatment or preventive care.
  • The same care for a family member.
  • A closure of the workplace, or a child's school, by a public health order.
  • Needs arising from domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking.

Leave may be used for those. It starts accruing when the job starts.
