The Will After a Death

R.I. Gen. Laws § 33-7-5 — the will into probate court within thirty days, and creditors' claims within six months

Thirty days. Anyone holding a will delivers it to the probate court, or to the executor named in it, within thirty days after notice of the death, and an executor who receives it delivers it to the court within thirty days.

A person who neglects that without reasonable cause, after being cited by the court, may be held in contempt and is liable for the damage the delay causes.

Claims against the estate are presented within six months from the first publication, or are barred. A creditor who missed that through accident, mistake, excusable neglect or lack of notice may ask the court for leave before the estate is distributed.
