Where You May Not Park
SDCL § 32-30-6 — fifteen feet from a hydrant, twenty feet from a crosswalk, thirty feet from a stop sign, and fifty feet from a rail
- In front of a public or private driveway.
- Within fifteen feet of a fire hydrant.
- Within twenty feet of a crosswalk at an intersection.
- Within thirty feet of a stop sign, yield sign or signal at the side of the road.
- Within fifty feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing.
No one may stop, stand or park on a sidewalk, in an intersection, on a crosswalk, double parked, on a bridge, or on railroad tracks. Each is a petty offense.
Reserved spaces. Parking in or blocking a space reserved for a person with a disability without the certificate or plate is a Class 2 misdemeanor, with a fine of not less than $100 where the space is marked to the federal guidelines.
Cities post rules of their own. A particular ticket is a question for a licensed South Dakota attorney.
