Utah Code 34-51-201 — one year at most after the job ends
For a non compete agreement entered into on or after May 10, 2016, an employer and employee may not agree to a period of more than one year from the day employment ends, and one that does is void.

- On or after May 6, 2026, no one may enter a non compete agreement with a healthcare worker.
- On or after May 6, 2026, the same is true for a veterinarian, unless the veterinarian has at least a 5% ownership interest in the business.
- Broadcasting employees have their own narrower rule.
