Bad Checks
13 V.S.A. § 2022 — passing a check known not to be honored, up to one year
Issuing or passing a check knowing it will not be honored carries up to one year and $1,000, with restitution of the check plus a service charge of not more than $5 if the defendant can pay.
Knowledge may be inferred when there was no account, or when funds were short, the check was presented within 30 days, and it was not made good within 10 days of notice of dishonor. A post-dated check is excepted.
