WHAT EACH CHARGE CARRIES

52 charges people actually meet, each with the section it comes from, what it requires the state to show, and the most it can carry. Vermont does not sort crimes into classes. Each offense section sets its own term and fine, and 13 V.S.A. § 1 makes any offense whose maximum term is more than two years a felony and every other offense a misdemeanor, so each level here names the kind and the longest term the section allows.
