Passing a School Bus
23 V.S.A. § 1075 — stop for a school bus with its red lights flashing, from either direction
- A driver meeting or overtaking a school bus stopped to load or unload children stops immediately and stays stopped while its red lights flash.
- The rule covers emergency vehicles too.
- A driver need not stop on a highway with separate roadways when the bus is on the other roadway, or on a controlled access highway where the bus is in a loading zone pedestrians may not cross from.
