Jury Duty And Your Job
RCW 2.36.165 — leave to serve, and no lost job or promotion over it
Leave to serve. A Washington employer gives an employee summoned for jury service sufficient leave to serve, and may not deprive them of employment, threaten, coerce or harass them, or deny them promotional opportunities because of a summons, the response, service, or attending court for it.
An employer who intentionally violates the section is guilty of a misdemeanor. The employee may sue for damages and reinstatement, with a reasonable attorney's fee on winning.
