Turning Eighteen
W. Va. Code § 2-3-1 — full legal capacity to sign contracts, buy and sell, sue and be sued
Eighteen. Except where the code provides otherwise, no one who has attained the age of eighteen years lacks legal capacity because of age to make contracts, buy or sell property, sign legal documents, sue or defend a lawsuit, or handle their own affairs.
Other sections set their own ages, such as 21 for alcohol and tobacco. A particular question is one for a licensed West Virginia attorney.
