Door To Door Sales
Wis. Stat. 423.202 — until midnight of the 3rd business day after the seller's notice
The Wisconsin right to cancel covers a consumer approval transaction: a consumer sale started by face to face solicitation away from the merchant's regular place of business, or by mail or phone solicitation aimed at the particular customer, and completed or received away from the business, on credit or for cash over $25. Real estate, auctions, plain catalog sales and all-mail consumer loans are outside it.
Until midnight of the 3rd business day. The customer may cancel until midnight of the 3rd business day after the merchant gives the required notice. Notice goes by mail to the merchant and counts as given when mailed, and any written expression of the intent not to be bound is enough.
The right is lost only when all of these are true: the customer decided a 3 business day delay would endanger health, safety or property, gave the merchant a separate dated and signed personal statement waiving the right, the merchant began performing in good faith, and goods cannot be returned in substantially as good condition. A merchant making custom goods may require certified or registered mail.
