A Tracking Device
W.S. 6-2-506 — GPS surveillance without authorization is one of the named forms of stalking
Using any electronic, digital or global positioning system device to put another person under surveillance, or to watch their internet or wireless activity without their authorization, is one of the ways the stalking law names.
Who handles this in Wyoming: Wyoming State Bar, attorney referrals; and legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Wyoming directory.
It is stalking when done with intent to harass, as part of a course of conduct reasonably likely to harass the person. The crime may be treated as committed where the tracking began, or where it reached the person while in Wyoming.
Stalking is a misdemeanor with up to one year, a fine of up to $750, or both, and a felony with up to ten years in the cases the section lists, such as a violation of a protection order.
