Jury Duty and Your Job
C.R.S. 13-71-126 — regular wages up to $50 a day for the first three days, and no penalty for serving
A regularly employed Colorado juror is paid regular wages by the employer for the first three days of service, up to fifty dollars per day unless the employee and employer agree otherwise. Part time, temporary and casual work counts as regular employment where its hours follow a schedule, custom or practice set in the three months before service.
Who handles this in Colorado: legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Colorado directory.
An employer may not deprive an employee of the job or its benefits, or harass, threaten or coerce them, because they were summoned or served. The juror may sue, and the court may award treble damages and attorney fees for willful misconduct; a willful violation is also a class 2 misdemeanor.
