The Repair Estimate
C.R.S. 42-9-105 — no more than the estimate plus ten percent or $25, whichever is less, without consent
A Colorado motor vehicle repair facility performs no repairs without the customer's written consent and, unless the customer signs a waiver in bold type, without first giving an estimate of the total cost.
Who handles this in Colorado: Colorado Department of Law, Stop Fraud Colorado; and legal aid programs and the state offices, listed in the Colorado directory.
The estimate is close to a ceiling. No charge may be made for labor and parts beyond the estimate, plus ten percent of it or twenty-five dollars, whichever is less, unless the customer consents to the extra charge before the work is done.
Storage charges may begin on the fourth day if the customer has not picked up the vehicle within three days after notice it is ready, not counting weekends and legal holidays.
