Plates, Front And Back

Idaho Code § 49-428 — a front plate where there is a bracket, twelve inches up, and nothing covering it

Front and back. A motor vehicle carries one plate in front, if it has a front plate mounting bracket, and one in the rear. Motorcycles, ATVs, utility vehicles and semitrailers carry theirs in the rear, and classic and similar plates may be a single rear plate.

Secure, visible and clean. Every plate is securely fastened so it cannot swing, at least twelve inches from the ground measured from its bottom, in a place where it is clearly visible, and kept free of foreign materials and clearly legible.

Plates are displayed during the current registration year, and the plates with the registration card count as the plates for the year on the card.
