The Registration Calendar

Idaho Code § 49-402 and Idaho Code § 49-456 — twelve staggered periods, ending at midnight on the last day, and no driving on an expired one

There are twelve registration periods, one starting each month. Each runs from the first day of its month to the last day of the twelfth month, and expires at midnight on that last day in the year the registration card shows.

The card is the proof. A vehicle reregistered keeps the same month, and the registration card is the exclusive proof of when registration expires. Registration fees are not refunded.

No driving unregistered. It is unlawful to drive, or let someone drive, a motor vehicle on a highway that is not registered and does not show the plates assigned to it for the current registration year.

Fees depend on the vehicle's age and kind, and a first registration may run more or less than twelve months with the fee prorated by the month.
